It's been just over two years since Drew Carmody, a.k.a. L D R U, began his journey from the home life of Sydney's Northern Beaches to his current position as an emerging pioneer in the Australian music industry. Following a debilitating back injury, Drew looked to music to push himself through his recovery, finding motivation and passion in perfecting a style and sound that has since captured the interest and attention of both Australian and international music lovers.
L D R U's self-described “trapical” sound bounces out of his breakthrough single 'The Tropics,' released on the label Future Classic. 'The Tropics' received widespread international acclaim among the public and within the industry, with support from such artists as Skrillex, A-Trak, Diplo & What So Not. Since then L D R U has been approached by the likes of Flume, Miami Horror, BROODS and more to remix some of their most successful hits. If this wasn't enough, L D R U has also been called upon to share his talent and his sound at some of Australia's leading music festivals, including Stereosonic, Big Day Out, Splendour In The Grass, Future & Field Day.
As one of the most exciting up-and-coming Australian electronic artists in the scene right now, it's no surprise that MTV, Inthemix and Nina Las Vegas frequently hail L D R U as one of the “next big things” to watch out for. With plenty more tracks and appearances on the way, it shouldn’t be too hard to keep the trapical vibes flowing thanks to L D R U.
Catch L D R U on the Main Stage at Banana Field Music Festival on Saturday, 29th October 2016.
